Creative challenges are really put to test when the stakes are high: 6,700 acres to protect and preserve required more than $3 million to raise, in only 18 months. Daunting, but the Kentucky Natural Lands Trust Board gave lots of encouragement and few limitations for what is now a collector's piece. When a forest this fragile doesn't have protection, you can't risk bringing throngs of visitors. Instead, we had to invite the reader and with the many textures and levels of the amazing forest, blank pages beg the reader to continue the experience once the forest is preserved.
